    Child and Family

    Supported Child Development Program

    Our Supported Child Development Program (SCDP) is a community-based program designed to support you and your child when and where you need it. 

    This program supports children up to 12 years old (13 -19 on a case-by-case basis) who have or are at risk for a developmental delay, behavioural concerns, or need extra support to attend a public program like preschool. 

    When you join this program, a professional consultant from our team will create a personalized program for you. 

    Your consultant will work with you to:

    • Identify goals and strategies to support your child's physical, cognitive and emotional development
    • Find inclusive, supportive care environments (daycare, preschool, or after school programs) for your child
    • Consult with your childcare program to encourage inclusion
    • Provide extra support in childcare and learning environments
    • Refer your child to other professional supports when needed
    • Support your child as they transition to kindergarten

    Your child does not require a diagnosis to join our SCDP. This is an inclusive program accessible to anyone who needs it. 

    Referrals can be made by the following:

    • Your family doctor or a nurse practitioner
    • Public health nurse
    • Midwife
    • Childcare provider
    • Counsellor
    • Social Worker
    • You

    There is no fee.
