    • Youth Outreach

    Child and Family

    If you or your child are between 13 and 19 years old and have been designated as a Child or Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) by the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD), our Youth Outreach program is for you.

    To access our program, you must live in Powell River or the qathet Regional District and be referred by the MCFD CYSN Social Worker.

    This program includes many different activities and is geared toward helping you prepare for life during and after high school. 

    If you prefer one-on-one support, we can work with you individually around your schedule.

    You may want help with skills like catching the bus alone, applying for an after-school job, and making new friends. 

    We also have group activities available after school.

    If you enjoy cooking or want to try new recipes, join our cooking club. If you're more into sports or other recreational activities, we have drop-in options at the recreation center. Join these activities to have fun and meet new friends!

    Our flexible program assists you in reaching your personal and family goals.

    We can support you with things like:

    Skills-building

    Develop new skills to help you with communication, problem-solving, and time management.

    Social opportunities

    Socializing and connecting are important. Through this program, you can make friends and build valuable relationships.

    We'll help you plan your transition from high school to whatever comes next -- whether that's college, vocational school, or work.

    We'll work with you and your family to identify meaningful goals and support you in taking steps to achieving them.

    To join our Youth Outreach Programs, you need a referral from the MCFD Child and Youth with Support Needs social worker.
    They will help you access our program and ensure it's the right fit for you. If you don't already have a referral, click the button below.
