Who is This Service For?
This service supports pre-teen to 19 year olds who have a life-long developmental disability, have an Autism Spectrum Disorder or who are on the At Home Program. Children and youth are supported in the home or community setting based on individually identified needs.
Areas of Focus
Family Support offers 1:1 service that focusses on skill development to promote independence, health and well being, and community inclusion. Individual service plans developed collaboratively with the child and family, guide the types of skills targeted. Examples include self-help and life skills, social skills, employment and safety.
Using a goal focussed approach, staff engage the children and youth by tapping into activities and interests that are fun and motivating. You will often see young people out at local community events, engaging with their peers and ‘hanging out’. These types of venues offer lively and interactive ways to test new skills and learn from others.
These services are intended to help promote children’s healthy development, maximize quality of life and assist families in their role as primary caregivers.
